TIMELINE OF THE OWL
2016

  • November

    • Sean Haley and Blake Schumacher try to fix what is wrong with the Wiffleball leagues they have played in the past, coming off of the abandonment of the Brunswick Wiffleball Association.

  • December​​

    • The OWL is officially in construction

2017

  • February

    • The league decides to go to ​a "School yard" team selection. Meaning the captains will pick teams before every game, giving the league enough players and keeping the league fair

  • May​​

    • The captains are named to be Sean Haley, Brian Haley, and Blake Schumacher​

  • June

    • The first official Ohio Wiffleball League game is played in Brunswick Ohio​

  • July

    • ​Sean Haley named OWL's first Most Valuable Player​

  • Team Sean ends the season with a perfect 8-0 record and gets a free ticke​t to the World Series

  • August

    • Team Blake beats Team Brian in the semi-finals, two games to one, and earns a ticket against Team Sean in the World Series​

    • Team Blake sweeps Team Sean in the World Series, becoming the leagues first World Champions

    • Cole Mayak wins World Series MVP

2018

  • April

    • Team Brian is officially renamed to the Sluggers​

    • Team Sean is officially renamed to the Virus

    • Team Blake is officially renamed to the Liberators

  • May

    • Fireballs are announced as the leagues first expansion team​

    • season expands from eight games per team to 16 games per team

    • American League and National League are set in place

  • June

    • Second season gets underway with Liberators playing the Sluggers

  • ​July
    • First league Home Run Derby is held. Blake Schumacher beats Brian Haley in the finals​
    • First OWL All-Star Game is held. American League mercy-rules the National League, giving them home field advantage in the World series
    • Fireballs get first win in franchise history against the Virus
  • August
    • Zach Eshbaugh and Brian Haley are named the leagues MVP's of their respected conferences​
    • The Virus sweep the Sluggers, three games to zero, to become the leagues second World Champions. Blake Schumacher is the World Series MVP
  • September
    • The Hawks are announced as the new team in the OWL, led by Shawn Sobczyk​
    • The Aztecs are announced into the league, being run by Gianni Ciora
    • Season expands from 16 games per team to 18 games per team
    • The Destroyers are announced as the newest member of the OWL, under direction of Ben Bales 

  • December

    • The 18 game season is changed to a 20 game season​

    • The Pharaohs are added as the eighth team, to even out the playing field in the conferences

2019

  • January

    • The OWL announces the Predators as the ninth team in the league

    • 20 game season moves back to 16 games

  • February

    • The Pharaohs leave the league

    • The Hawks move to the American League

    • Playoffs increase from 4 teams to 6

    • season goes from 16 games to 14

    • The Sluggers are renamed to the Drones

  • June

    • #SavStrong season of the OWL is underway

  • July

    • Jacob Brown takes over for the Aztecs while Caiden Dicus subs in for the Hawks

  • August

    • The OWL Playoffs are set to begin​

    • The Liberators Advance to the World Series, Defeating the Drones

    • The Virus advance to the World Series, Defeating the Hawks

2020

  • March

    • League plans to go back down to 6 team season​

    • After a very long break, the Virus go Back to Back and win the 2019 World Series

    • League plans to go back down to 4 team season

    • 2020 Season is underway!

    • After 2 games, the league is forced to postpone the remainder due to Covid-19 outbreak

  • May

    • League comes back from Covid-19 postponement​

    • Abandonment of separate conferences
